First Trailer and information drops about Destiny 2!

In a brief trailer today, Activision finally lifted the lid on the Sequel to 2014’s Destiny, with Destiny 2.

After a small tease earlier this week, and various leaks over the last year (one including Mega Blocks!) a full trailer, with slight story details was released at 6PM today, alongside pre order details, and what entails in the many Editions of the game you can buy.

Also released was a brief synopsis:

“Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.”

Featuring fan favourite Cayde-6 (Voiced by Firefly’s Nathan Fillion) and Commander Zavala (Voiced by Fringe’s Lance Reddick), and their… Different styles on inspiration. Showing the destruction of The Tower, The City, and even The Traveler by the invading Cabal Forces, lead by Ghaul and his Red Legion. The trailer did not show off any gameplay, but that has been promised in a planned live stream on the 18th of May.

Now what does this trailer show us:

There is an in-game reason for the inventory wipe.

One of the big criticisms about Destiny 2 as of late was the news that you character will carry over, but you inventory and gear in the vault would not. Now with this trailer we can see why, with its fiery demise shown in full force.

Say goodbye to your Gjallarhorn….

Melee will be a big part of the game

Brought in later in Destiny’s lifespan, melee weapons were introduced in The Taken King expansion. By the looks of the new enemy types: a hulking dual-wielding brute, and Cabal hunting Dogs this could be Activision’s way of telling us to drop the shotgun pick up some swords.

The City Is Real!

The City is something we’d only ever heard of from NPC’s and seen from the Tower, but never been visitable until now. With the destruction of The Tower and surrounding areas, and the tagline “Retake The City” It seems we’ll get our first look at the town below the Traveller.
